Realizing His Destiny to Teach Truth

“A constant riddle in my mind was the fact that we had to die after living this way – as well as where we come from, why we live and where we go after we die. I also pondered why we all come into the world but only some people become saints, while others such as myself are just ordinary people.”

– From Stop Living In This World, Go To The Everlasting World Of Happiness, Live There Forever

The answers to humanity’s most profound questions only came to Master Woo Myung after he achieved Truth. Upon his realization, he discovered a universal principle: anyone can become Truth if they discard their false selves.

Driven by this profound awakening, he began to ponder the most effective method to teach others. Approaching this challenge from the perspective of ordinary people, he dedicated himself to rigorous study, which eventually culminated in the seven levels of the Ma-eum Su-Ryun Meditation method.

Today, Master Woo Myung is globally recognized as a spiritual leader who works tirelessly for his students. He understands the preciousness of human life and the urgent need for humanity to reach enlightenment. He once shared:

“It is not my purpose to make disciples. I am here to make masters.”

This philosophy reflects his core belief that anyone who meditates according to his teachings can achieve Truth and, in turn, guide others.

Founding Ma-eum Su-Ryun Meditation: Solving Mankind’s Perpetual Riddle

The history of Ma-eum Su-Ryun Meditation began humbly but grew rapidly due to its profound effectiveness.

  • November 1996: Master Woo Myung taught his very first group of 10 students. Within a week, nine of them became enlightened about the place of the mind. This process became the foundational Level 1 method.
  • January 1997: Word quickly spread that one’s mind could truly be discarded. What began as a monthly week-long course expanded to 50 students and soon became a weekly program.
  • February 1997: The program was officially named Ma-eum Su-Ryun Meditation, and the first dedicated meditation facilities were established at Gaya Mountain in South Korea.
  • 2001 & Beyond: A permanent center was built at the foot of Gyeryong Mountain. By 2012, over 400,000 people around the world had participated in these programs, with thousands successfully achieving human completion.

Unlike abstract spiritual practices, Master Woo Myung’s teaching method is clear, systematic, and exact. Students experience distinct awakenings at each step, gaining deep confidence and certainty in their journey toward Truth.

The Method of Subtracting Minds: Achieving Human Completion

Master Woo Myung’s sole purpose is to help people escape the confines of their self-made “mind worlds.” By creating a complete, step-by-step method of subtracting minds, he has enabled people to discard their false bodies and minds and be reborn as their original, true selves.

  • A Universal Path: The discarding method transcends cultural, racial, and gender boundaries.
  • The Core Principle: It is a natural truth that when the accumulated human minds are completely discarded, the true mind of the origin emerges, allowing everyone to become one.

As Ma-eum Su-Ryun Meditation continues to expand globally, Master Woo Myung travels endlessly to new and unfamiliar places, driven not by the pursuit of recognition, but by the desire to see students attain true freedom from suffering.

“The method for human completion is to discard one’s body and mind and be reborn as one’s real body and mind. I think this is the reason this method has become so popular and countless people have attained freedom and liberation and reached eternal heaven. Thus, I feel I have done my work in the world.”
